Tom came out of a nasty crash spectacularly unharmed. But for the time he was laying on the floor, all he could think about was how happy riding his bike was making him. The freedom, the world around him, the ability to think. And that he couldn’t face losing that.
He got back on the bike just a few weeks after, riding for the peace it brings you. He put on some pretty long days on the saddle, but a long time knee injury was keeping him uncomfortable.
That’s when he asked me if I’d make him a bike.
It needed to be able to take him across the UK, but also let him work for his club mates in the local crits. And it needed to be a tribute to Brixton Cycles, the shop and the club, who kept him sane when he was off the bike, and make his love for riding grow always.
We picked a mix of Columbus HSS and Life steel, for stiffness, comfort and weigh. A 44mm head tube and Columbus’ brand new Futura Caliper forks complete the frame set. Cole Coatings applied their usual magic to my design. A smart and sober looking profile hiding a party at the back.
Keep rolling, Tom!
